 In 1884 began to work in Tenerife the Omnibus company that operated with a carriage of a single horse, able to transport five people and it made a daily trip between Santa Cruz and La Laguna. A few months later they incorporated two new carriages, closed this time, that could do two daily trips and they soon became a successful way of transport.

  In 1885already existed several companies that got to transport 16,000 travelers per year between Santa Cruz and La Orotava and the press of this time highlighted for their extraordinary speed.The tram was used as transition between the diligence and the bus (guagua). In 1898 came a project of electric tram from Santa Cruz to Icod de Los Vinos, with strands in La Orotava and the Puerto de La Cruz. Presented to the Civil Government and informed favorably by the city council, the project was approved. The planes anticipated one electric power station and a garage in La Cuesta, populous district of La Laguna and Santa Cruz, the works lasted one and a half year in charge of an electric trams corporation of Tenerife, whose director would become later the consul from Belgium D. Fernando May.

  The inaugural trip was carried out in April 7 of 1901 and it lasted 34 minutes from the jetty to the church of La Concepción of La Laguna. For 50 years it was an enormous help for the communications between both cities and their real capacity was surpassed constantly by the demand, so in the summer of 1942, for example, the stocking of the traffic was of 13,588 passengers to the day, also it transported merchandise, although in reduced amounts.

Everything got lost for abandonment, little before 1960. Also took place, in 1913, some intents in order to install an electric tram in the downtown, but these projects were abandoned immediately. The omnibuses of the diligence were substituted by the popular guaguas (buses). The first bus was ahead several months to the first particular automobile, like until certain point was natural in a lacking territory of trains. It belonged to the Camacho hotel company and it was inaugurated the first of June of 1902 and with the oldest buses line of Tenerife between La Laguna and La Orotava. It had been considered useless go down until Santa Cruz because the manager found that it contended with the tram.

  The first car in Santa Cruz requested the Civil Government the circulation authorization was at the beginning of 1905; already in the year 1906 the King went for a walk in car and in 1909 the first automobile tour of Canarias took place.   Between the years 1931 and 32 went giving lines and itineraries at title of lease, to which they paid a canon. In this way, one could say, that between several managers were distributed the island by zones. The south was for the Domingo Figueroa and Alonso Martin company. The services Santa Cruz-La Laguna for Hdez. Francés-Oramas. Santa Cruz-Pto. de La Cruz for Lorenzo Hdez. and Hnos. Santa Cruz-La Orotava and La Laguna-Tacoronte for Salvador Reyes. Apart from these lines existed another like La Laguna-Tejina-Punta de Hidalgo La Laguna-Las Mercedes and La Laguna-La Esperanza.
 
  In August 19 of 1942 was created Transports of Tenerife S.L. it worked until January 12 of 1978, date in which it was constituted Intercity Transports of Tenerife Corp. (T.I.T.S.A.). The composition of their capital was from the 85% SPANISH NATIONAL RAILWAYS (RENFE) and 15% of the Excellent Insular Council of Tenerife (Cabildo), and it was constituted, with the step of the time, in the hegemonical company of the terrestrial transport of travelers in the island. Later in 1986 the heading of the company action is passed over the Canary Government. The company returned to the hands of the Cabildo of Tenerife in January 2007, at an event in which they gave effect to the decrees of transfer functions from the Autonomous Community to Cabildo. Cabildo of Tenerife is its sole owner.
 
  Today TITSA gives covering to the services of regular transport of travelers by highway in Tenerife, counting for this with about 600 vehicles and 1,600 workers' insole, transporting about 54,13 millions travelers in the year.
